Astronaut Elara wakes from a crash landing already lashed to a pyre — the High Priestess has declared her a witch the stars spat out, and the torches are lit. She answers with a chemical flare, and a tribe that has never seen fire come out of a human hand goes down on its knees. Their Alpha, Kael, offers one month and one deal: a fake marriage that makes her his Goddess Wife, in exchange for saving a people who will not survive the winter. She purifies their poisoned wells, digs up a crop they have walked past for generations, and lights a blast furnace in a bronze-age valley. Every miracle buys her another week — and another enemy. The Priestess who wants her burned sells the tribe's defences to the Ravager horde. When the granary goes up and Kael takes a killing blow in front of her, Elara stops improvising: she arms a stone-age tribe with black powder, artillery and chemistry, and turns a canyon into hell. The contract that saved her life ends up torn to pieces — by the king kneeling to ask for a real one.
