To humiliate the arrogant Lord Leon Chambers—son of the Royal Chancellor—Lady Nina Ginne starts a clever ruse. Using the name of Prince Julian York, the Emperor's fourth son, she spreads word that the prince's carriage has broken down and needs to be carried through the streets. She promises generous rewards to anyone who helps.
The townspeople, eager for royal favor and silver, rush to assist—only to discover Lord Leon inside the carriage in the middle of a scandalous affair with Hannah Synne. They drag the carriage straight to the palace gates, exposing him to the public.
There, Leon's identity is revealed, just as his influential family—Duke Caleb Chambers and his daughter Lady Clara—arrive and are swept into the chaos. Nina watches the scene unfold with satisfaction—until the Chambers retaliate, violently turning on her family. She tries to fight back but is forced to surrender when her family is threatened with death.
Soon after, Crown Prince Jason York seizes the moment. Accusing House Ginne of treason, he storms the palace with armed guards, claiming to "cleanse the court" and pressuring the Emperor to abdicate.
When Prince Julian learns of the betrayal, he vows to march into the palace himself, kill the traitors, and avenge the fall of House Ginne.
