In the original plot, she dies to benefit Seraphina Dalton and the three beasts. Jenna cuts her losses, sells the Fortune-devouring beasts to the greedy Seraphina, and keeps only Kael, a Pixiu who came to repay her kindness. Together, they form a Life-and-Death Pact.
