Elena believes she is about to marry the man she loves—until she discovers that Arthur Blackwood’s proposal is a death trap. Cursed and desperate to save himself, Arthur plans to use a ruby necklace and their wedding ritual to transfer his suffering to Elena, while her parents knowingly sacrifice her for the family’s business interests and her sister Winnie destroys her reputation to take her place. Instead of submitting, Elena turns the wedding into a public reckoning, exposing their lies before walking away. When Arthur later forces her into a fate-exchange ritual, white mage Gandalf gives her the one thing no one else has: the right to choose. Elena breaks free of magical control, refuses the exchange, and sends Arthur’s curse violently back upon him. With Gandalf beside her, she rebuilds from nothing, proves herself in the investment world, and rises to found Elena Capital. Three years later, she methodically dismantles the families that once treated her as expendable and outmaneuvers Arthur and Winnie’s final kidnapping scheme. By the time justice catches up with them, Elena no longer needs revenge to define her. She builds a luxury brand in her own name and joins Gandalf in creating a foundation for girls abandoned by their families—choosing freedom, purpose, and a partnership built without chains or sacrifice.
