At her father's funeral, Ava is humiliated by a rival family. Dante bursts in, violently tearing up the debt note and demanding Ava’s body in return. Ava attempts to assassinate him but is subdued. Dante whispers, "Want to kill me? First, learn to please me." At a mafia summit, Ava is forced to wear Dante's family colors. When another man makes a move on her, Dante publicly cripples him, declaring, "She's my territory." Ava thinks she has an escape, but Dante had let her go, watching her in the rain and saying, "You can’t leave without my permission."
After a shootout leaves Dante injured, Ava helps him, and they share a tense kiss. Ava’s childhood friend accuses Dante of masterminding her family’s massacre, and at a banquet, Ava confronts him with a gun. Dante calmly says, "If killing me will make you happy, shoot." Just as Ava hesitates, the villain admits he framed Dante. Ava turns against him, and she and Dante fight side by side.
Afterward, Dante proposes, kneeling and offering her the family ring: "I need a queen to rule with me." Ava burns the contract, coldly saying, "I don't love you, but I crave the power." They kiss, with Ava secretly holding a loaded gun.
